The geologist João Cavalcanti, with more than 50 years of experience in the Brazilian mineral sector, having received the title of Personality of the Year in 2021, is pleased to inform the market of the discoveries of reserves of:
– Ores of Carbon Graphite Filites (favorable for obtaining Graphene);
– Aluminum (ferruginous Bauxites);
– Lithium (associated with clays derived from the weathering of felsic volcanic rocks, similar to Tesla Motor’s reserves in Nevada-USA);
– Potassium embedded in Granitoids.
Carbon graphite phyllites have free carbon contents higher than 16%, and geological reserves are estimated at over 100 million tons; ferruginous bauxites have Al2O3 contents ranging from 28 to 30%, and geological reserves are estimated at 400 million tons.
The potential geological areas for Lithium occurrence are similar to the Tesla Motor reserves in Nevada USA, pending laboratory results (clays derived from chemical weathering of Felsic Volcanics of the Novo Horizonte Group); and the K-feldspar-rich granitoids present more than 60% in a phaneritic matrix and predominate in massifs near the western border of the Paramirim Valley.
The entire region is cut by railroads (FIOL and FCA) and federal and state roads (BR-030, BA – 156, etc).
Wind energy is also present, as well as the High Voltage Line (Serra da Mesa), which favors their use for obtaining Metallic Aluminum.
It is worth mentioning that the mentioned professional was responsible for the discoveries of the iron ore deposits of BAMIN (BA) – in operation; SAM (MG) and BEMISA (PI), both under implementation.
CVP, of which he is a member, discovered iron ore reserves similar to the Kiruna deposits in Sweden, and occurrences of basic metals (copper and zinc) in felsic volcanics similar to the Broken Hill deposits in Australia.
