The National Mining Agency (ANM) has introduced a new digital tool: the “Distribution of Mining in Brazil” panel. The objective is to allow any interested citizen to monitor the distribution of mining activities throughout the national territory.
Developed by the Coordination of Mineral Geoinformation (COGEO), the panel offers filters that enable detailed analyses. Users can, for instance, identify the location and area of mining processes in the extraction or exploration phase. It is also possible to quantify these processes by state or year and visualize their spatial distribution.

According to ANM’s directorship, the intention was to develop a tool that integrates information about mining processes in an accessible and dynamic manner, reflecting the status of demands under the agency’s management and allowing for data cross-referencing.
This tool acts complementarily to the Geographic Information System for Mining (Sigmine). It facilitates spatial analysis, assists in territorial planning, and provides support for decisions based on concrete data. It also allows for monitoring the evolution of mining in the country.
The “Distribution of Mining in Brazil” panel constitutes a resource for managing information on mining processes and increases transparency regarding the activity in the country.
The tool is available for public consultation. Click here to find out more.
