The Annual Fee per Hectare – TAH charged by the National Mining Agency – ANM, was established by Law No. 7,886, dated November 20, 1989, and subsequently amended by Law No. 9,314, dated November 14, 1996.
ANM has determined that every holder of a mining title, Research Permit (Alvará de Pesquisa), must compulsorily pay the TAH.
It must be paid every year while the Research Permit is valid. The due date varies depending on the semester in which the permit became effective.
- For Research Permits and extensions published in the Official Gazette of the Union from January 1st to June 30th, the TAH must be paid by the last business day of July;
- For Research Permits and extensions published in the Official Gazette of the Union from July 1st to December 31st, the TAH must be paid by the last business day of January of the following year.
To remain regularized and maintain the Research Permit in force, it is essential to make payments within the stipulated timeframe.

Penalty for Non-payment of TAH
It is extremely important to comply with the above-mentioned deadlines to avoid the suspension of the process.
In cases of non-payment of the TAH or payments made after the due date, the titleholder may be subject to the initiation of a judicial process for the application of the penalty, as established by Law No. 9,784, dated January 29, 1999.
In case of default, a penalty will be charged, according to Article 56 of the RCM with the updated amount as per the current Resolution.
