ANM Announces Public Hearing to Discuss Notice of the 8th Round of Area Availability

The National Mining Agency (ANM) has released Public Hearing Notice No. 1/2024, aiming to open discussions on the draft Notice of the 8th Round of Area Availability.

The hearing, approved at the 295th Administrative Meeting of the ANM Board of Directors, has as its main objective to receive contributions and opinions regarding the regulation of the Public Offer and the tie-breaking criteria by Auction, as provided in articles 1 and 4 of ANM Resolution No. 24, of February 3, 2020.

The aforementioned Public Hearing aims to provide transparency and legitimacy to the ANM’s regulatory process, allowing the active participation of economic agents and other interested parties in the formulation of policies related to the mineral sector.

In this context, the following specific objectives will be addressed:

a) To publicize the draft Notice, which presents objective tie-breaking criteria through a closed bid auction;

b) To provide economic agents and other interested parties with the opportunity to submit opinions, suggestions and point out possible impacts of the established criteria on sector operations;

c) To identify, in a comprehensive manner, all relevant aspects of the matter under discussion;

d) To confer transparency and legitimacy to the actions of the ANM, reinforcing its commitment to society and to the actors of the mineral sector.

The Public Hearing is scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, through the Teams platform, with live broadcast on the ANM’s YouTube channel.

To participate, it is necessary to access the documents that support the matter and to register for oral manifestation, as well as to send written contributions through the electronic address provided by the agency.

Registration for oral manifestation must be made in advance until 9:00 am on the day of the public hearing, while the submission of written contributions can be made from April 9 to 19, 2024.

The Substitute Superintendent of Economic Regulation and Regulatory Governance of the ANM, in the exercise of her regimental attributions, announces the opening of Public Hearing No. 1/2024, approved at the 295th Administrative Meeting of the ANM Board of Directors.

The Public Hearing aims to receive contributions to the draft Notice of the 8th Round of ANM Area Availability, which deals with the regulation of the Public Offer and the tie-breaking criteria by Auction, in the terms of arts. 1 and 4 of ANM Resolution No. 24, of February 3, 2020, to confer the right of priority to the competitor to request research authorization or mining concession in the areas to be presented in the Notice, duly purged.

The specific objectives of this Public Hearing are: a) to publicize the draft Notice, which has objective tie-breaking criteria through a closed bid auction; b) to provide economic agents and other interested parties with the possibility of submitting opinions and suggestions and pointing out the possible impacts of these articles on their operations; c) to identify, as broadly as possible, all relevant aspects of the matter; and d) to confer transparency and legitimacy to the actions of the ANM.

The Public Hearing will be held on April 17, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, through the Teams platform, with live broadcast through the ANM’s YouTube channel. Access to the documents that support the matter, registration for oral manifestation and the submission of written contributions should be made at the address https://app.anm.gov.br/ParticipaPublico.

Registration for oral manifestation must be made in advance, at the informed electronic address, until 9:00 am on the day of the public hearing session. The submission of written contributions can be made from April 9 to 19, 2024, at the same electronic address.
