CETEM Successfully Organizes the Sixth Edition of the Brazilian Rare Earth Seminar

On the 7th and 8th of November 2023, CETEM’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro was the stage for the VI Brazilian Rare Earth Seminar (VI SBTR), an event that brought together over 500 participants, both in-person and online. The initiative highlighted CETEM’s commitment to disseminating knowledge and fostering integration between businesses, government, and universities.

With 8 modules and 32 presentations, the VI SBTR covered a variety of topics related to rare earths, ranging from geological knowledge to advancements in research, development, and innovation (RD&I) projects.

Highlighted themes included the current scenario of mining in Brazil, challenges in mineral research, and the opportunities that rare earths present for Brazil in the energy transition.

Throughout the modules, experts and representatives from renowned institutions and companies such as CETEM, USP, UFSC, UFF, IPT, CODEMGE, IBRAM, ABPM, ADIMB, EMBRAPII, FINEP, Mineração Serra Verde, Meteoric Resources, Mineração Taboca, Mineração Terras-Raras, Alvo Minerals, CMOC, Lithium Ionic, CPRM/SGB, Centro Tecnológico SATC, CDTN, Fábrica Carioca de Catalisadores/FCC, LabFabITR, Blue Project, M&R ASSESSORIA EMPRESARIAL, BNDES, Sindipeças, discussed innovation, funding, and the role of these entities in the rare earths’ production chain.

CETEM, in partnership with MCTI (Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation) and MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), led the organization of VI SBTR. The event not only strengthened collaboration between the public and private sectors but also propelled the exchange of essential knowledge for the advancement of the rare earth industry in Brazil.

The VI Brazilian Rare Earth Seminar reiterated CETEM’s importance as a center of excellence in promoting knowledge and strategic coordination among various players in the industry and the public sector.
