Theme of the Event:

The 8th Executive Meeting of the mineral sector promoted an intriguing and crucial debate by addressing the theme “Strategic Minerals and Brazil in the Global Energy Transition.” The growing need to transition to a global digital and sustainable economy, based on renewable and low-emission energies, highlights the fundamental importance of researching, extracting, and utilizing minerals and metals from the Earth’s crust.

This transition has echoed in the commodities market, resulting in a redefinition of demands, in which elements like copper, nickel, cobalt, lithium, titanium, heavy rare earths, manganese, niobium, and graphite emerge as strategic minerals, vital for both technological advancement and social well-being.

The event aimed to explore Brazil’s current position in this global energy transition dynamic, considering its geological, technological, and political dimensions.

This thorough examination sought not only to understand Brazil’s role in the supply chain of strategic minerals but also to outline guidelines that can propel the country to play a prominent role in this transformation.

By bringing together experts and industry leaders, the event provided an essential platform for the in-depth analysis of this scenario and the formulation of strategies that position Brazil as a protagonist in the global arena of strategic minerals and energy transition.

The event was attended by political authorities and distinguished personalities from the mining sector. Among the participants were the Secretary of Geology, Mining, and Mineral Transformation, Vitor Eduardo de Almeida Saback, the President of CPRM, Inácio Melo, the lead researcher at CETEM, Fernando Lins, the Director of the Secretariat of Geology, Mining, and Mineral Transformation, José Ubaldino, and several other representative members of the Ministry of Mines and Energy – MME.
