The Ministry of Mines and Energy/ Secretariat of Geology, Mining and Mineral Processing (MME/SGM), through the Brazilian Geological Service (SGB-CPRM), published the public notices for the assignment of mining rights in the areas of Kaolin of Rio Capim (PA), Copper of Bom Jardim de Goiás (GO), and Phosphate of Miriri (PB/PE).
The initiative reinforces the MME/SGM’s commitment to the development of Brazilian mining, by allowing the private sector to participate in the process of research and studies on the deposits.
The auction will be held on December 07, 2022, in Brasília (DF), starting at 10am.
The director of Geology and Mineral Resources of SGB-CPRM, Marcio Remédio, highlighted the importance of the publication for the promotion of the mineral sector and for the generation of jobs and income in the localities.
The director recently participated in a panel on mining assets, during Exposibram 2022, where he called for companies to participate in the auctions.
The Miriri Phosphate project involves a set of areas in the coastal region of Paraíba and Pernambuco, about 45 km in the north-south direction – south of the city of João Pessoa. The project covers the municipalities of Alhandra and Pedra do Fogo, in Paraíba, and Goiana, in Pernambuco.
Mineral surveys carried out by SGB-CPRM indicated a potential of 102.9 million tons of phosphate ore.
The project was qualified by the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) and there are seven mining processes totaling 6,112.18 hectares with 115 million tons of phosphate ore and an average grade of 4.19% P2O5.
The public notice about the Bom Jardim copper, on the other hand, deals with a 1,000-hectare mining asset that presents detailed mineralization studies and resources calculated at 4.5 million tons of ore.
The auction is for the Assignment of Mining Rights for the signing of a promissory contract and, subsequently, the definitive assignment of the mining rights.
Finally, the public notice for the assignment of kaolin area, in the municipality of Ipixuna do Pará (PA) corresponds to two surveyed areas: South Block and North Block, with 10,000 hectares of area. In the North Block 574 million tons are estimated and in the South Block the total resources were 218 million tons of ore, which corresponds to a total volume of approximately 800 million tons of kaolin.
The auction will be held on December 7, 2022, in Brasília (DF), starting at 10am.
