The National Mining Agency (ANM) has announced that mining companies must submit the dam flood map by September 30th.
For this, the companies must access the ANM’s Integrated System for Managing Mining Dams (SIGBM), on tab 16, and upload the map.
The document must be in kmz or kml format, which store geographic data, and must explain, separately, the self-rescue zone (SAZ) and the secondary safety zone (SSZ).
In accordance with the determination of article 68 of ANM Resolution No. 95/2022, all mining dams, framed or not in the National Policy for Dam Safety (PNSB), must send the map and keep it updated in the system to meet the legal obligation and avoid being penalized.
According to Luiz Paniago, Superintendent of Dam Safety at the ANM, this procedure is important so that the agency, in conjunction with the civil defense and local governments, can act more quickly in case of emergencies.
In the future, the ANM also intends to make the maps available to society, he said.
